Surveying the footings...

July 16, 2010

I helped my surveyor locate all the points/corners for the footings.  Down to the millimeter.  I wonder why we can be so precise with stakes in the ground, then we're lucky if it comes close to a couple of centimeters for building tolerances.

  1. I guess it's because tolerances are like a safety net for the builders' possible mistakes. I'm sure you know that errors in construction can result in big problems, so they really need those tolerances. Btw, how was your brief surveying experience, Shafraaz? Ooh, I'm so excited to see your house finished!

  2. The surveying brought me back to the surveying course I took in University. and almost failed that course, 'cause I couldn't "close" the loop we had to survey. *sigh.* I think we did far better this time around!

** Post construction note: the framing was actually well done- within half a centimetre!
