More material. That's a lot of wood.

wood pile #1

wood pile #2
There was a whole lotta' wood on site when I arrived today!  It's all for starting the main floor framing~ which hopefully begins tomorrow. I have to remember to tell Nelson Lumber not to ship their "standard framing package"- as things like 1 bag of batt insulation, 1 roll of polyethylene and 1 roll of tyvek always show up with their deliveries. We still have poly left over from the first delivery- and I don't need tyvek yet! I don't want things to get lost, and my little garage is getting very full!

sorted small pieces of wood: ready for re-use!
Also, I've sorted out out "scrap wood" into nail-free piles of similar sizes.  I hope this will encourage our framers to re-use the little pieces, rather than ripping down large pieces.

  1. Wow - that is alot of wood. You are all kinds of amazing carrying on the busy work and home life that you have and still mostly building your own dream home!

I would think the framers would appreciate your sorting and I hope that it does encourage them.

I would love to see a picture of how the cement turned out. Is it polished cement for the floors Shafraaz? Does that get polished now or once the framing is all in place?

  2. The concrete floor will be polished- after 28 days of hardening. It looks extremely rough right now.

We will then acid stain or epoxy coat the concrete, so it doesn't dust up.

  3. Nice. I'm learning more as your home is being built. I understand there are some really nice acid stains now. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.
